The New York Jets have traded safety Calvin Pryor, their 2014 first-round pick out of Louisville, to the Cleveland Browns for veteran linebacker Demario Davis.

This trade continues Cleveland’s offseason tirade to completely change the image of their team by week 1. This trade follows a strong draft that saw the franchise select some of college football’s brightest stars such as Jabrill Peppers, David Njoku and Deshone Kizer. Adding Pryor to the Brown’s defensive backfield is certainly an upgrade from last season’s horrendous unit.

On the other hand, Demario Davis returns to New York where he started all 16 games at Middle Linebacker for the Jets. The reunion between the two parties should provide a level of veteran leadership for a generally young unit that added Jamal Adams in the draft and signed Morris Claiborne in Free Agency.

Grade:

Jets: C+

Cleveland: B
